Round 1: A Goblin's Feast
For the first round, I picked a bunch of gross stuff for people to try to eat. I wanted to pick things that were all intended for human consumption (so no one would get actually sick), things that didn't need to be refrigerated right away but that most people would find disgusting. I went to the oriental and hispanic food aisles at our local grocery store and picked out some canned goodies that (at least to me) didn't look very appealing.
Round 2: UFO's (Unidentified Food & Objects)
For the second round, I took a small tub and filled it with the items below. The items were not separated from each other - they were just all in the tub together. I used a rubbermaid style small tub and cut a hole in the lid. I also made a small lid out of cardboard to cover the opening so that contestants can't see in and nothing can get out, muahahaha! Each item was worth 2 points for a maximum of 20 points.
- A Fish Head ($2 at local Thrifty Meat & Produce Market)
- Lamb's Heart ($6 at Thrifty)
- Wig Hair
- Slimy Spaghetti Noodles
- Olives
- Chicken Bones
- Live Meal Worms
- Live Crickets
- I swear I had ten items but now i can't remember the last two. I know I was intending on putting pumpkin guts & seeds but it didn't happen
For the third round, I wanted a time based physical challenge. So I simply put a bunch of marbles in another small tub on the ground and filled it with ice water. Contestants had 60 seconds to retrieve as many marbles out of the ice water as possible using only their feet. I poured a ton of marbles in the tub but I put on the scorecard that you could get a maximum of 20 points.
Since each round was a max of 20 points, they were all weighted equally (so someone who was good at the feel box but didn't want to eat much gross stuff would have just as good of a chance as someone who ate all the stuff but was a bad guesser).
Finale!
All the contestants had to turn in their scorecards by 11:30pm in order to win and I think I had around 7 people fill out scorecards. Lots more played one or two rounds out of three but didn't do a scorecard. For the winner, I printed a fear factor certificate and gave them a gift certificate for two people to get admitted to a nearby haunted house (est value $20). In case anyone else is interested, I attached my Word Doc below that has my scorecards, instructions and complete details - hope this helps someone else who may want to try it out at a party!
