Best Weekend Ever

So Friday was my 26th birthday...man I'm getting old.  Sorry to anyone who has been waiting impatiently for this post but here is an update on my weekend.  I overslept in the morning because I was soo tired and then when I got to work (only a couple minutes late) somebody had to park in my parking spot.  Grrr...so i ended up having to park really far away.  Then i stumbled to the pepsi machine to get my morning diet mountain dew but they were out! Grr...so i go to the vending machines in the other building to get one and they were restocking them...Grr.  Most of the rest of my work day went like that - i just couldn't get a break.  Finally, it was the end of the day and I was actually able to leave on time (for once) so I was excited to go home and get outta there - it started pouring down rain and I had to schlep out to the far parking lot since someone had taken my spot.  So my birthday started out kind of crummy but I still had hope I would have a nice evening.

Work, work work

Sorry I haven't been around much...I have been working lots and by the time I get home I'm practically brain dead.  So what's new...hmm...

Well i finally filed my taxes and it came out fine.  Taxes are always such a pain and they are so much worse since Ryan and I split the costs of everything but we aren't married so some stuff is in my name, some in his, etc.  We end up playing with the numbers a bunch to make it fair to each of us and still pay as little taxes as possible.

My birthday is coming up Friday and I find myself really missing my bday buddy Gwen (her bday is the day before mine).  I miss being a kid and having awesome bday parties or even just all going out to the bar or something.  Now i'm old and lame...Ryan and I will eat dinner together and maybe rent a redbox or something.  I thought about trying to plan something but I was so busy with work and now it's less than a week away.  I know my next two closest friends Rachel and Beth already have plans in Orlando for another friend's bday so their weekend is taken.  Melissa is all the way up in Jax and has 2.5 kids so she can't come down, Kayla is on her honeymoon, and Carolyn isn't usually up for barhopping and staying up late.  Liz would probably hang out if she isn't working.  But that's about it.  So that pretty much rules out a gang of people going out together...maybe next year.  Plus I'll probably have to work late anyways so i guess it doesn't matter.  Last year i wanted to have an 80's party but it just didn't happen.  Maybe next year...I hope i don't just keep saying that every year, LOL.  Well worst case i will definitely make plans to do something fun for my 30th bday even if it's by myself so that means after this year there are a maximum of 3 more lame birtday

Happy Easter!

Ok so Easter was yesterday...but i didn't blog yesterday so I'm telling you now, happy easter!  Did anyone do anything fun?  We went to Jax for the weekend and stayed with Ryan's mom.  I think Mel wanted us to stay with her but there was a bunch of confusion so Ryan decided we should just stay with his mom.  And I think Mary was really happy to have us stay with her (we usually stay with Greg and Mel).  Saturday night we went out to dinner and went to see John Carter.  Apparently the movie got horrible reviews but we all liked it.  I thought it was refreshing to see a movie that didn't feel like a copy of other movies out there.  The action was exciting and the special effects were pretty cool too.

On Sunday, we had a mostly lazy day.  I painted my fingernails to look like watermelons.  They came out pretty cute but i smudged a few after i was done.  All in all not bad for my first attempt to do a more intricate design (I'll post pics tomorrow).

Eventually Ryan's siblings and their kids all came over for Easter lunch and an Easter egg hunt.  The kids had such a good time on the easter egg hunt and afterwards Ryan helped his nephew try to fly a kite for a while.  It looked exhausting, lol.  Ok off to bed, more blogging soon :)

Below is the current status of my on-going projects.  I haven't been doing very well now that I have been working so much (thanks to my promotion).  We've also been gone a lot which has cut out all of my free time on the weekends.  Next week I won't get much done either since this weekend we will be in Jacksonville for Easter and then next week I have GOT TO DO MY TAXES!!  We have been avoiding them this year and now the deadline is here.  So below, where I say "goal for this week", I really mean "goal for the week after".

Island Camping

4/2/2012

We have several friends that never want to go island camping with us when we go and I never understood why...until this past weekend.  We went out to the island on Saturday (much to my chagrin...I wanted to watch KU play bball in the final four game) but I was hopeful it would at least be really fun...

The Preparations
Ryan didn't want to mess with cleaning the big cooler and filling it with ice so we decided to bring just a small cooler with ice to put in our drinks in cups.  We were only bringing cokes and waters to drink because one of the other guys was going to get a keg of beer from Florida beer company.  We went to get food but only got chips and buns because another guy was going to bring a bunch of hot dogs.  We loaded everything on the boat and Ryan, doggy and I headed to the island (we got there around 2pm).
