Wedding Wrap Up

3/28/2013

I know we got married 4 months ago but I still had some unfinished wedding tasks lingering...just waiting for me to finish them.  I finally made some good progress over the last 4 - 6 weeks.

  1. Thank You Notes - I FINALLY got the last of the thank you notes written.  We were quick to get them out to our parents and immediate family members but once we got to extended family and friends we seemed to slow down.  Now, I don't know why I say "we" since Ryan wrote exactly 2 and I wrote the other 40 - 50, but either way we're done, LOL.
  2. Vendor Reviews - I FINALLY went on Wedding Wire and The Knot and a few others to post reviews of all our major vendors.  They all did so great and I needed to make sure other brides out there would know who to pick in our area.
  3. Leftover Stuff - I still have a number of things that I need to sell or give away or something, including: Video cameras, picture frames for table numbers, and a few other things like that (I need to go upstairs and see what is still up there)

The one major unanswered question though is still...

What do I do with my wedding dress and veil??

I got the dress preserved and sealed but now what?  I highly doubt that if I have a daughter one day that she'll want to wear it (and she'll fit in it and it will be in style and still good condition).  I thought about keeping it for a christening dress but honestly, I don't see myself turning it into a mini dress and even if i did there would be a substantial amount of fabric leftover.  I have also thought about cutting it apart and making it into a quilt using my dress (and details) along with blocks matching our wedding colors and themes...I haven't ruled this out but I'd hate to cut it up and then have the quilt not turn out and just have a half completed blanket and a ruined dress.  I've thought about doing "trash the dress" photos but I really don't have the money set aside for another photo shoot and I don't know if I could get Ryan to dress up for them (he thinks things like that are silly).  And I even thought about selling it...is that heartless?  It's so pretty and I don't really want to get rid of it...but i don't have anywhere to store it and what would i be storing it for?  Just in case i want to wear it on our anniversary or something? LOL.

Got any good ideas?

If you change your mind about the Trash the Dress, let me know. Ryan doesn't have to be in them, and I'd give you a great coworker/friend deal. You know how to reach me. :-)
