Wedding Update

11/4/2012

Since Halloween and the party, we were gradually trying to clean up (well by "we" I mean "me").  Then on Thursday night, I wanted to get all the Halloween stuff taken down and some of the cleaning done so I could finish cleaning and return to normal activities over the weekend.  I was trying to get him to help me a little bit and he wouldn't help at all.  I finally said "lets try to clean the inside of the house so we don't live in this pigsty anymore" and he responded "I'd rather have more clean laundry than a clean house".  I was so mad.  I basically reminded him where the washer and dryer are.  I then proceeded to spend the entire night cleaning and doing laundry while he sat on the couch watching youtube videos.  I was very upset that he wouldn't help at all.  On Friday, he had the day off and I had to work.  He must have known I was angry because I came home and EVERY single Halloween decoration was down and put away and most of the cleaning was done.  I couldn't believe it!  After that, I've been trying to not ask for help the rest of the weekend - just let him watch football and do other stuff.  We watched a couple movies too (reviews coming soon).

Since Ryan did so much cleaning for me, I was able to start doing some wedding stuff again.
  •  We finished choosing all the songs for the reception (believe it or not there are about 20 you have to pick) and the ceremony.
  •  I ordered a necklace and bracelet for myself on Etsy.
  •  I ordered a moss basket to decorate for the flower girl and got supplies to embellish it.

  • I made Rehearsal invitations and got them ready to go in the mail

Here was my inspiration on Etsy

Stole the idea from Etsy and then used our custom image as the main picture. Printed on white cardstock and then mounted to the green cardstock (all leftover from my wedding invitations)
  • I saw a cute idea on Pinterest to put glitter on the bottom of my wedding shoes but I wanted to test it out so I tried putting some black glitter on the bottom of some heels I rarely wear

When I do the real thing, I'll go all the way to the bottom

I didn't put it on the very base of the shoes just to save glitter
  • I also tried to figure out making a "Bride" and "Groom" sign for our chairs at the reception and then to see if I could make similar ones to mark the reserved seating at the ceremony
Picture
I can't find the pic of the ones I liked originally but they were $45 for the set which is WAY too expensive. Now that I found this pic, these are only $18 for the set (compared to the cheap crummy looking ones from Michaels which were $13) so I may just buy them

Didn't come out that great. Granted the people who sell them are artists with woodburning tools and I'm an engineer with a soldering gun (not meant for wood burning) LOL

It was really difficult to get an even thickness or smooth lines. Bummer! Fortunately the wood plaque was only $2 to try it out
Coming up this week:
  • Finish/decide on Bride/Groom and reserved seating signs
  • Meet with DJ to finalize song selections and pay balance
  • Pick up sash for flower girl
  • Hair and Makeup trial (and finalize day of hair/makeup appts)
  • Make ring bearer pillow (it's gonna be cute!)
  • Decide on wedding party gifts
  • VOTE!!
  • Alpha Phi final department meeting with current officers
  • Alpha Phi Advisory Board Meeting
  • Alpha Phi Elections
  • Movie review of "Cloud Atlas" and "Snow White and the Huntsman"
