Welcome to the 2nd edition of Scrap Basket Sunday!
Last week, I finished the remaining leaf blocks and proposed a layout. However, a few of my blocks fell off the design wall and I thought I stuck them up there in the same spots but apparently not.
I still wasn't quite happy with the layout in this pic. I wanted all the leaves to be pointing at the bottom of another leaf. Changes: Rotated middle row bottom block 180 degrees, Rotated right row 3rd block 90 degrees CW
Sewed blocks together
Finished sewing the blocks into columns
Finally, I sewed the columns together.
The one odd thing about this pattern is that the construction uses a lot of folded fabric and also glue basting which has caused some really thick stackups of seams. This is one of the few times where I was purposely flipping seams opposite directions and even ironing them with a fold on the back to try and get it to lay flat (and not break a needle).
Stay tuned for next weekend when I will hopefully get the borders cut and sewn on!
I am a part time quilter, full time engineer and hope to one day become a full time quilter. Feel free to read along as I explore quilting, cooking and anything else that strikes my fancy.
