After I finally finished trimming all of those flying geese, the next step was to assemble the star centers (although it's kind of funny since you don't need the flying geese for this step). Remember all the Half Square Triangles I made? It's time to turn those into the star centers! First I took each stack of HST's (as shown above) and laid them out into the star layout, using background squares to fill in the corners. Next I sewed them into strips of two...and then into quadrants. Then I sewed the two quadrants together into halves and finally sewed the star together. Now just repeat 16 times or until you've used up all your blocks! It wasn't very difficult to assemble the star centers and the piecing came out lined up even better than I expected. However, it took me around 20mins per star center so about 5.5hrs for just this part.
