This weekend was a pretty good one - i did some sewing and we went boating! On Saturday, I started working on the Alpha Phi quilt while we watched the UF football game. The gators won by a lot so Ryan was pretty excited! You can see I moved a bunch of my quilting stuff to the kitchen table. Then I used my embroidery machine to make a tshirt block that will help the buyers (the quilt is for an auction) remember when exactly they got it. Didn't it come out cute? You can still see where the hoop kind of indented the shirt but it will loosen up. I laid out all the cut shirts to decide on the exact layout - usually I do this before I cut anything but since I am deciding the layout and I knew the size of the shirts, I decided to cut them first. I was happy i had exactly 4 letter shirts so I could put one in each corner. Once I finished getting everything cut and the layout decided, I dragged Ryan to JoAnn Fabrics to get some border fabric and backing fabric. After a little bit he decided to wait in the car and then I really went crazy. I got halloween fabric for my nieces and nephews, a little christmas fabric (just in case it sells out before I decide what I want to make this year), some fabric to make bibs for my new nephew and a few other odds and ends. After JoAnn's I stitched all the blocks together in the quilt top while the border and backing fabric were in the washer and dryer. What do you think? While I was working on the quilt top, I had my embroidery machine working on a tshirt to give to the girls as a reward for good scholarship. It looks just like the quilt block except I left off the year so whoever gets it could wear it every year.
