The fall and winter months have been a bit of a whirlwind at the Moore house. Between bootcamps, the Olympic Tri and my Marathon I’ve been training like crazy all fall. Saturday and Sunday workouts would often last 2 – 3 hours and then would require a 2 – 3 hour nap afterwards lol. Then we were busy as usual prepping for Halloween and before I even had time to blink, Thanksgiving and my Marathon were upon us. We just had a few short days after my family left before it was time for our next adventure: the first Christmas celebration with family. I almost didn’t realize how soon it would be here (meaning I needed to do that Christmas shopping earlier than usual) but somehow managed to get everything together in time. On Thursday we drove from our house in Florida to Myrtle Beach, SC (about 8hrs) to see Ryan’s dad and stepmom Mary. Mary’s kids (our age) live in Maryland so they figured if they had a home in Myrtle Beach they would be half way between the Maryland kids and the Florida kids. It wasn’t a super long visit but it sure was fun! Insert Read More Break We got there late Thursday night but Friday was pretty low-key. We slept in a little then we went to breakfast with Rusty and Greg’s family (ryan’s brother/SIL/kids). We hung out at the mall for a bit and let the kids do a trampoline thing and ate lunch. That afternoon Mary arrived and so did Corine’s family (Ryan’s sister). We all went to the Original Benjamin’s Seafood which is an all you can eat seafood buffet. I’m not normally a buffet fan but all the seafood was really fresh tasting. That night we exchanged gifts and let the kids open all their presents from their grandparents (Rusty & Mary). Saturday we went to breakfast at the same place again and then hung out at the house for a while. Some of us took the dogs (including our dog Willow who came with us) to the beach nearby. Willow LOVED it – there was no one around so we let her off the leash and she was just running around, splashing in the puddles and rolling in the sand. Fortunately she’s short-haired so she didn’t get too dirty. Here's Rusty & Mary and their dogs. Saturday afternoon we went to a Pirate Christmas show…sounds pretty interesting right? LOL. It actually was pretty good. It’s like a Medieval Times where you have a meal with a set menu and you eat and watch the kids show. This one was owned by Dolly Parton’s company and had some pretty neat acrobatics and even some animals like sea lions and camels. They did a bit of an Ebeneezer Scrooge (Cap’n Scrooge) show and most of it was pirate like except a nativity scene stuck in the middle (seemed a bit out of place with the pirates). Overall it was pretty good and the food was tasty too.
