So I was trying to figure out how to hang up all my quilting tools and notions and I saw a picture someone posted using a crib rail and I really liked it.
I started looking on craigslist and eventually found a pottery barn crib for sale for only $40. I have several more crafts planned with this crib (including an upholstered headboard) but I decided to start with this project. Here's the crib rail that I bought:
I knew I was going to want some shelves and such so first I sketched up what I wanted it to look like.
Next I bought the wood pieces I would need and started assembling the shelf pieces
It already looked so pretty! but time for paint!
Then Ryan helped screw some mason jar lids underneath the shelf
First I assembled a shelf to hold my interfacing
Then I added a magnetic tool holder and covered it with pretty fabric and a few hooks to hold other notions
Below that are two adorable fabric covered clipboards
Then I hung the other shelf I made and put little pots on it to hold pens and pencils and such. Underneath it you can see the mason jars of buttons, safety pins, etc. And below that, you can see I have my rulers hung up with shower curtain rings.
And finally, here's what the whole thing looks like, ta da!
Only thing left is I want to get a vinyl Quilted Affair logo and put it on the front of the interfacing shelf, heehee
I know someone who cuts vinyl with custom designs! I'll link her FB page to your Quilted Affair page.
