Most of the closets in our house have wood slat style bi-fold doors. And I HATE them. I don't mind the way they look but the thing that drives me nuts is that they constantly come off the tracks or get stuck or some other thing that causes them to need to be adjusted. I swear you can only open those doors about 3 tmes before you need to readjust them. Super annoying. So as part of the guest room re-do it was time to get rid of the non-functioning bi-fold doors.
All you need to replace them is a tension rod for shower curtains (around $6 at Walmart) and two curtain panels sized to fit the opening (I already had these and just cut/hemmed them to the correct size).
All you have to do is slip the panels over the tension rod...
And hang it up! With a tension rod there is usually a spring or tightening mechanism so you extend it to the length of your opening and then twist the rod to make it hold tight in its place. No screws or any other installation required. And voila! Closet covering that won't break! It may not be super fancy but I'd much rather have these than the silly bi-fold doors!
