Girls Cruise!

This year is my sister-in-law Melissa's 30th Birthday!  If you haven't seen her blog, check out Moore Craziness to see all her awesome kiddos and stuff they're up to.  For her birthday this year, we decided to go on a girls cruise to the bahamas, yay!!!

If you are thinking about going on a family vacation on a cruise - I wouldn't recommend taking a weekend cruise to the bahamas.  The food, service, entertainment and ports are less exciting than the cruises that are a week or longer.  HOWEVER...the weekend cruises are cheap and super fun for a bachelorette party, birthday party or booze cruise.  Just don't go on a weekend trip expecting the same quality of a week long trip.  Thursday I worked a half day and then we drove up to Port Canaveral (about 45mins north of where I live) and got on the boat!  It took a lot longer to get on than usual so by the time we got there they were already closing up lunch - thank goodness we got a few scraps before they took it all away.  We spent most of the afternoon chit-chatting and hanging out by the hot tub.

Friday we arrived in Nassau around lunch time.  We got off the boat and went to Senor Frogs to get some conch salad.

After Senor Frogs we walked down to Junkanoo Beach to soak up some sun.  A lot of people go to Atlantis Hotel & Aquarium but it costs money to get a shuttle over there AND they charge you an entry fee.  The beach was free and fun :)  After a few hours on the beach we headed back to the boat for Formal Night.

Carnival is very sneaky - they scheduled the Formal Night (when they have the best food - steak and lobsters) for the day we are at port so that a lot of people will miss the formal night and they'll have to serve less lobster and steak, LOL.  Look how cute we were on Formal Night!

Since we only had one port on this cruise (Nassau), we didn't have to be back on the boat until 5am!  So after we stuffed ourselves at formal dinner, we changed clothes and went back to Senor Frogs for some drinks :)

It was a pretty good time at Senor Frogs - not too crowded, popular music and only a couple of weirdos (there's always a few if there's a dance floor...).  There was a bachelor party there and one of the guys was flirting.  I told him I was married so he asked which of us was single.  When I told him we were all married, he went around checking all our hands for a wedding ring and then looked really disappointed.  He said "man, i guess i have to get a ring to be cool enough to hang out with you guys" LOL.  He was pretty funny.  There was also one creeper who definitely tried to kiss Melissa and she wasn't even dancing with him!  The only other creepy thing was that one of our waiters on the ship was OBSESSED with Emily and then he showed up at Senor Frogs and just sat and stared at her the whole time...can you say awkward?

It was pretty warm at the club since it's outdoors (no airconditioning) and we were thinking about heading out when all of the sudden one of the guys from the bachelor party started throwing punches.  Then another guy grabbed the groom from the bachelor party and once the groom was in...the whole bachelor party was in the fight.  Security was trying to break it up but then they were getting hit too.  It wasn't long before they forced the guys out of the club (roughed 'em up a little) and the cops came over on a boat to see what was going on.  It was a little crazy but a pretty good fight ;)  On the way back, the girls wanted to keep some distance between us and that group so we stopped to take a pic with the bahamas sign.

We were up pretty late that night (probably around 4am or later) so we definitely slept in on Saturday.  We were pretty lazy that whole day, wandering around the ship, laying out, chit-chatting, etc.  We had one more fun dinner together and then watched some karaoke and a comedy show.

It's a good thing that we were all getting along so well because we were all squished into one little room.

Overall it was a REALLY fun weekend - I swear we spent most of the weekend just talking and laughing at each other.  I can't count how many times we were busting out laughing over something silly.  We had a great time together and all got to know each other a little better.  I'm so glad that I got to go on this trip and that Mel counts me as a cool enough friend to bring along - Happy 30th Birthday Melissa!
