When I was at JoAnn's recently, they had these little jewelry holder bags that were just the colors I was looking for. But I didn't really have a use for another jewelry bag and I thought they were poorly designed for jewelry bags. But then an idea struck me...I bet I could turn these into cute little clutches!
First I cut off the ribbon off the top and used a seam ripper to remove the two velcro pieces.
I cut off the strap that used to have a velcro piece on it (the one I'm holding in the photo above). I took the velcro pieces I had removed, repositioned them, and sewed them back down.
I used the iron to press the folds on the bag and then I stitched up the sides. Normally I would stitch with the right sides together and then flip the bag inside out but I didn't want to mess with the existing zipper - i wanted to use that part for a credit card pocket.
I checked to make sure it will hold all the essentials :) It will actually hold more than what is shown below but those three are the critical items you can always find in my clutch.
I checked to make sure it will still easily close and then I used the ribbon I cut off at the beginning to make a cute little bow. The bow also helps hide the stitching lines where I added that velcro piece.
That's it! Five cute clutches ready for Kayla's bridesmaids. Happy Wedding Kayla!
You are so awesome!! That is soooo sweet of you, I can't wait to see them in person!!
P.S. Maybe when I live there you can teach me a thing or two about sewing!
