Before the wedding I made some super cute gifts for my bridesmaids (and myself, LOL) but I think I forgot to post them! I wanted to post them right away but I know at least a couple of the girls read my blog so I didn’t want to spoil the surprise. First, I got them all little birdie necklaces that have their initial hand stamped on them. I ordered them from an Etsy shop that has tons of cute jewelry: http://www.etsy.com/shop/hotmixcold?ref=seller_info Then I made little “emergency” kits for each person. I used a plastic travel soap container (for a bar of soap) to hold everything. Each one had chapstick, hand sanitizer, tweezers, nail file, nail polish remover pads, Krazy glue, Wisp (mini toothbrush), hair tie, bobby pins, safety pins, Advil, makeup remover/touchup sticks, Q-tips, cough drop, Shout stain remover wipes…and maybe even a few more things I’m forgetting. You really could solve just about any minor issue with the kits, lol. Last but not least, I made these adorable little ruffled clutch purses. The outside is a soft purple corduroy. The inside is a light purple cotton lining (matches the light purple ruffle on the front). On the inside, I also included a little holder for an ID or credit card and of course my Quilted Affair label and a business card or too (crafty ain’t I?). Of course I made a little wrist strap and attached it to a swivel – I love having the swivel piece on my straps, it’s so much more convenient. Lastly, I used some adhesive rhinestones to jazz up the front but I don’t think they were quite sticky enough so I might need to superglue mine on better later. These came out so cute and didn’t take too much time or supplies. I’m tempted to make some in more colors and offer them on my website as bridesmaid gifts. I could also probably embroider a small initial in one corner on the back or something to make it more personalized. First I’d need to try to remember the exact pattern I made up – hopefully I wrote it all down in my notepad that I keep at the quilting desk. I really need to start scanning or formally keeping track of all my patterns again in case I want to remake items in the future. I used to put them all in a scrapbook which made it really easy but creating the pages was kind of time consuming. I guess I should go back to using it and just make myself take the time to make the scrapbook pages for it. Maybe these would make for some cute birthday or Christmas gifts this year too…
