2013 Goals

1/2/2013

Like many other people around the world, the start of a new year encourages me to make new goals and try to improve upon various areas of my life.  Some years I did well making my goals and others I lost steam mid-way through the year.  Looking back, the years I did well were the years that I kept close track of my progress.  So now that I have a blog, I can update you guys with my progress and hopefully motivate myself to meet those goals!  I have quite a few goals so I break them up into categories like so:

Home & Projects
For our house I want to finish painting and decorating the guest bedroom, finish the odds and ends we left undone from our guest bathroom and make/finalize plans for a master bathroom remodel.  We will have to save up for a while before we are ready to work on remodeling our master bathroom but in the meantime, Ryan and I can pick out colors, countertops, faucets, cabinets, flooring, lighting, etc.  We can also finalize the layout of the new bathroom and create accurate cost and time estimates so we save up enough money and do the work at an appropriate time.

Quilted Affair
For Quilted Affair this year, I want to complete two quilts each month or a minimum of 20 quilts for the year.  As part of this, I also want to finish all outstanding projects from 2012: two hand stitched tops from my Great Aunt Barb that need to be quilted and finished, a second Tshirt quilt for Gwen, a clothing quilt for my Aunt Beth and a quilt for Alpha Phi made from alumnae shirt donations.  Over the honeymoon I got inquiries regarding about 5 more quilts so I will probably be kept plenty busy with sewing this year.  I would also like to start selling the embroidered onesies but this will be a secondary priority compared to the quilts.

Healthy Living
I have blogged many times about wanting to lose weight and it’s time I start actually working towards it.  Inspired by another blogger, I have decided to break up my weight loss into several smaller goals.  I will have Goal Weight #1, Goal Weight #2, Goal Weight #3 and my Ultimate Goal Weight.  Hopefully I will be able to reach each goal in 3 months or less so that I reach my ultimate goal before the end of the year.  I’m sure I’ll be posting more about how I’m going to accomplish this soon.  Also, on facebook we are doing the Add One A Day challenge with some friends where on Jan 1 you do one sit-up and one push-up.  Then on Jan 2 you do 2, on Jan 3 you do 3, etc until you miss a day or can't complete them.  Done with days 1 and 2 so far :)

Fun Goals
There were a few more things I would like to work into my normal routine so I am listing them with my goals but these do not take priority over anything above.  I would like to paint my nails at least once per month, complete one crafting or home decorating project each month, blog 15 times per month and enter one race each month (should help support my weight loss goal).

I will post some updates on specific goals periodically but I will try to give an overview of any accomplishments at the end of each month.  What is your goal this year?
