In addition to the wedding coming up, it’s almost Thanksgiving and then Christmas is right around the corner! I realized that by the time we get back from the honeymoon we will be within a day or so of the USPS Christmas mailing deadline so I need to purchase any presents that have to be mailed before the wedding! So far I’m only done shopping for one person and I have quite a few left to do so hopefully I will be able to get some of it figured out during Black Friday shopping. This year we are going to do Thanksgiving dinner at Ryan’s sister Corine’s house. This will be the first year she’s hosted it at her house (at least since Ryan and I have been together) so it should be a fun change. I’m sure her kids will be really excited to have everyone come over to their house too.
I’m sorry I never got around to my movie reviews but I’m so busy that I don’t think it’s going to happen. So here’s the quick recap:
Cloud Atlas: This is directed by the same people who did The Matrix and it is a very strange movie. I think I liked it but I’m still not sure – I need to watch it again. If you are looking for something with a complicated plot, lots of different characters with famous actors (Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, etc) then you might like it. But don’t watch it if you don’t want to see any of the following in a movie: nudity, slavery, cloning, homosexuality, mild violence. It was seriously a crazy movie and spans 6 different timelines. I’d love to hear what anyone else thought of it if you’ve seen it.
Snow White & The Huntsman: We were a little skeptical at first since Snow White is played by Kristen Stewart (from the Twilight movies) but she did a pretty decent job. The plot was nicely done, animation/CG was convincing and it was overall pretty entertaining. There were only a couple scenes where we found ourselves laughing at Kristen Stewart’s awkward facial expressions.
Breaking Dawn Part 2: I also went and saw Breaking Dawn Part 2 with Rachel and Beth after dinner and picking up my wedding dress (a fun little impromptu girls night out). It was nicely done – the animation wasn’t too cheesy and Kristen Stewart looks much less awkward when doing happy scenes instead of all sad and perplexed. There is a flash forward that goes on for so long that it makes you question if it’s a flash forward or if they decided to deviate from the book. Fortunately they stuck to the book. The only downside to me is that there was a LOT more content in the book that didn’t get covered. They left out all of Bella’s fight training and a lot of information about the search for vampire/hybrid humans and what they found out. But overall I think it is the best out of the five movies (very appropriate since Breaking Dawn is also my favorite of the four books).
