Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving? I know we sure did! My dad, stepmom and brother flew in from Texas on Wednesday. We got everyone settled and ran a few last minute errands before the Thanksgiving feast. This year I picked up a smoked turkey from Broken Barrel Tavern (a local favorite) and it was so nice not to have to stress about whether it would come out right or not!
The meat was juicy and delicious and the gravy they gave us was great too. I made green bean casserole, stuffing (a new recipe with sausage, cranberries, apple and pecans), a huge pot of mashed potatoes, rolls and Laurie made a cranberry salad (and we had the jellied kind too). And what thanksgiving would be complete without an abundance of dessert? I made WAY too much lol - pumpkin pie (for Ryan), pecan pie cheesecake (for dad) and apple pie (for me). Three desserts for 5 people lol. While we were cooking, the guys did a few projects around the house and hung out. We didn't do a whole lot on Friday but on Saturday we made our annual trip to Santa's Christmas Tree forest (I'll share a pic of the tree when it's decorated) and then Sunday was my very first full marathon (more on that next time). Overall I'm super thankful for all my family and our good health! It was so fun to have the family here for the holidays :)
