I’m sorry I never got around to my movie reviews but I’m so busy that I don’t think it’s going to happen. So here’s the quick recap:
In addition to the wedding coming up, it’s almost Thanksgiving and then Christmas is right around the corner! I realized that by the time we get back from the honeymoon we will be within a day or so of the USPS Christmas mailing deadline so I need to purchase any presents that have to be mailed before the wedding! So far I’m only done shopping for one person and I have quite a few left to do so hopefully I will be able to get some of it figured out during Black Friday shopping. This year we are going to do Thanksgiving dinner at Ryan’s sister Corine’s house. This will be the first year she’s hosted it at her house (at least since Ryan and I have been together) so it should be a fun change. I’m sure her kids will be really excited to have everyone come over to their house too.

Like most Halloweens, I wore my costume to work today over my work clothing and it got a great response! It was super fun and it didn't even look weird that I had regular clothes on underneath it. I left work a little early though to try to get home before the trick-or-treaters started. When I got home, there were already about 6 cars parked outside my neighborhood and there were a few people wandering around.
The party last night was SO awesome! We had friends from college, rock climbing, my sorority sisters, Piper employees, Harris employees and friends of friends. The food and decorations turned out great and I'm pretty sure everyone had a great time! Here's a few of my favorite pics, thanks to a few of our friends who took pictures (we of course took no pics at the party). I'll try to write more details later but for now it's time for bed and then to start another crazy week!
Tomorrow (saturday) is our 5th Annual Spooktacular Halloween Party...yay!!! Here are a few pictures as a sneak peak. Some are new and some are old but here's a little taste of what's to come.
Last week at work was very busy – we had a lot of drawings we had to complete and release and they were very big drawings (assemblies and installation drawings have a lot more detail and require a lot more work/attention than basic fabricated parts).
Aside from work, Ryan wanted to get the back deck fixed up a bit before we have a big party with lots of people over. His goal was to stabilize the deck and railing, pressure wash the deck and then repaint or restain the railing. The first night I worked late so he started pressure washing the stair rail. Tuesday night and Wednesday night, I pressure washed a few sections of the railing while he worked on fixing it. Ryan did a great job stabilizing the stairs and railing – they are much sturdier now. Granted – he almost broke his nose! He was hamming a cement block beneath the base of the stairs and he lost his footing, slipped and smashed his forehead into one of the stair boards. If he would have been any lower it would have smashed the bridge of his nose. Thursday night Ryan was going to pressure wash the backside of the railing (I couldn’t reach) so I went and ran some errands. Unfortunately, Ryan didn’t see that I called to tell him that I was going to run errands so he was just waiting for me instead of pressure washing. I did pick up a few goodies. I got candy for our trick or treaters, a trophy for the best costume prize and a few other small decorations. After our awesome 4th of July celebration, our weekend was filled with activities and I was so busy that I even forgot to blog (silly me!). On Thursday, Ryan had to work and my Dad, Laurie and Parker were pretty exhausted from the long day before that they slept in pretty late. After the got up we had some late breakfast and then drove to Florida Tech to check out all the things that had changed on campus since I graduated. There are numerous new buildings and dorms, a new cafeteria and even a pool. It was pretty hot outside so after that we headed back to my house to chill out in the AC and eat a late lunch. After Ryan got home, he and my dad and Parker went for a mountain bike ride with some friends while Laurie and I chatted and made dinner. Of course we ran out of propane in the middle of grilling but fortunately a neighbor was able to help us out and we had some tasty beer-can chicken, macaroni and cheese and rolls.
Happy Fourth of July! I hope everyone had a wonderful day and went and saw some awesome fireworks! The morning started off a little bit crazy - Willow cut her paw pretty bad and was bleeding all over the house and the boat, we were trying to bandage her up and clean up the mess, there were people coming over to go out on Ryan's boat, I was trying to clean and get the house ready...Then my dad, stepmom and brother flew in and got here around lunch time. I picked them up, dropped off their luggage at our house and took them to Jersey Mike's for some lunch. When we got back, Ryan was just getting back from boating. The boys decided to go to get some fireworks and a few last minute groceries while Laurie and I stayed home and got ready for people to come over. We had cheese/crackers, veggies/dip, hamburgers, bratwursts and I made a neat flag cake, like it?
I'm slowly but surely getting caught up on my blog, lol. It's been a little crazy around here!
After we left San Francisco at the end of our secret vacation (Friday 5/25) we flew to Colorado to spend the weekend with my family. My parents were there, plus my brother and sister, my Aunt Katie, my mom's friend Cindy and my grandmother too. After we got there we all went to lunch together and hung out for the afternoon while we waited for everyone to get into town. We didn't do a whole lot of planned activities over the weekend but it was nice to just hang out together and have some fun. But there were two pretty cool things that happened: Ok so Easter was yesterday...but i didn't blog yesterday so I'm telling you now, happy easter! Did anyone do anything fun? We went to Jax for the weekend and stayed with Ryan's mom. I think Mel wanted us to stay with her but there was a bunch of confusion so Ryan decided we should just stay with his mom. And I think Mary was really happy to have us stay with her (we usually stay with Greg and Mel). Saturday night we went out to dinner and went to see John Carter. Apparently the movie got horrible reviews but we all liked it. I thought it was refreshing to see a movie that didn't feel like a copy of other movies out there. The action was exciting and the special effects were pretty cool too.
On Sunday, we had a mostly lazy day. I painted my fingernails to look like watermelons. They came out pretty cute but i smudged a few after i was done. All in all not bad for my first attempt to do a more intricate design (I'll post pics tomorrow). Eventually Ryan's siblings and their kids all came over for Easter lunch and an Easter egg hunt. The kids had such a good time on the easter egg hunt and afterwards Ryan helped his nephew try to fly a kite for a while. It looked exhausting, lol. Ok off to bed, more blogging soon :) I had a lot of fun with this month's shoebox swap crafts. This month I wanted to do items that had more embellishing on them so here's what i did.
Shamrock Clips I cut out heart shapes in varying size and in two colors of green felt. Then I nested them and glued them all together to create a shamrock shape. Finally, I glued a hair clip on the back and a few sequins on the front for glam factor. I was originally thinking about just using them as hair clips but they would also be cute as shoe clips (to dress up some boring flats at work on St. Patty's day) or to clip onto a purse or bag if you don't want to wear green on the big day, heehee. I got my inspiration from the link below:http://www.sugarbeecrafts.com/2012/02/shamrock-heart-hairclips.html |
